Mulroe2014To protect and educate the elderly about the very real danger of preventable diseases, State Senator John Mulroe sponsored legislation signed into law yesterday to provide educational materials about vaccination to nursing homes in Illinois.

“Vaccination is one of the easiest and most effective means we have in eradicating disease, but it’s important to remember that many vaccines are newer and some of our senior citizens may not have received them earlier in their lives,” Mulroe said. “The Centers For Disease Control report that thousands of our citizens over the age of 65 are diagnosed with preventable diseases each year. Providing these informational materials will encourage our seniors to take advantage of modern medicine and fight these deadly diseases.”

The legislation was House Bill 4440. Having been signed by the governor, the new law takes effect Jan. 1, 2019.
